This is where it all started, where the look of pigeon ads today originated. Chris Peeman, when he purchased Oak Haven Farms, knew he had to put out a color catalog similar to his predecessor, Campbell Strange. On a discussion with Chris one day, I told him he should hire me to design it. He had no reason to do so, as I had never created a catalog before in my life. He said ok, here is my new bird,"Dreamboy", come up with something I like for the cover and you have the job. I created the "glow" around the bird simply because of his name. I then added rock to the background, instead of the standard yellow, blue, orange backgrounds which had been used over and over. The look was immediately copied by other breeders, and is still being copied today. What sets my ads apart, is the use of unique backrounds, but it all started right here, with this cover. . the original that set the pigeon world on its ear. . thank you Chris! |
